Pat Jesten

Pat Jesten has been interested in photography since she was a little girl. Her grandfather owned a photography studio in Grenada. After smelling all of the chemicals in her Grandfather's studio, she was "captured." She has been taking photographs ever since. Pat focuses on children and nature in her photography. After all, "without children and nature my life would not be as pleasant."

Pat now lives in Springfield, Virginia, and is a Mom to a beautiful little boy and a wife to a great husband. Recently, she has become increasingly interested in sharing her photography. Through this site and her webpage on Pixie Memories, Pat offers a peek at her collection of photographs from people and animals to nature and outdoors. Her art work highlights her dedication to the subject and her attention to detail. Her fealty to color, as emphasized in her gallery of flowers, was a driving force to feature Pat Jesten on Neighborhood Talent.

Below are wonderful samples of Pat's art work. We've included descriptions for each photograph in Pat's own words...

"This portrait was taken as my son was watching one of his favorite TV shows on Noggin. He was patiently waiting for the punch-line. He did not wait very long. 30 seconds after this photo was taken the whole entire room was filled with the laughter of a very happy five year old boy."

"This is my favorite flowers of all time. I love how they bloom in the summer. I love how the fragrance fills the air with its perfume. I am lucky to live in an area where they flourish."

"This photograph was taken at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria, Virginia. The photograph was taken on a particularly hot day. The sun was strong and the park was not nearly as populated as it normally is. This particular yellow flower reminds me of that day."

"This photograph was taken in March of this year. When I shot this scene, it was what I think of as a typical London day. It was a bit damp and the clouds covered the sky. It reminded of the stories I heard about Jack the Ripper and I hopefully conveyed that in this photograph."

"This photograph reminds me of the untouched beauty in Virginia. We were in the Luray Caverns and the texture and colors of the formations captured my attention."

"I set this photo up because people in Virginia love to eat the Maryland Blue Crab — Its part of our culture. Old Bay makes all food delicious! And that is why this photo makes me wonder what the crab is thinking.

I assume that the crab does not want me to use the Old Bay Seasoning, because if I did, he would surely be eaten."
